The practical differences
A reproduction is not an original and is not equivalent to one. It can still be the right purchase — just know what you're buying.

How to recognize an authentic example
- Knoll logo and Mies van der Rohe signature stamped on the frame (modern production)
- Frame made from flat steel bar, not tube
- Hand-welded, polished frame with tufted leather cushions on leather straps
What reproductions usually change
Reproductions often use tubular steel, visible weld seams at the X-crossing, synthetic or bonded leather and fewer cushion panels.
